documenary shorts from Afghanistan

Nearly a decade after the fall of the Taliban regime and in spite of the infusion of billions of dollars in international aid for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, the lives of ordinary Afghans have not changed significantly.

The Fruits of Our Labor is a collection of short films that bring to life ordinary Afghans efforts to address their challenging social and economic conditions, providing a fresh perspective on the needs and issues of Afghans beyond the relentless battlefront coverage in the western media.

The films, made by Afghans, were produced during a recent filmaking training provided by Community Supported Film. Each story is unique, yet each speaks to the same universal goal of overcoming the odds and aspiring to build a better future for oneself, one's children and one's country.

Join us for a screening of several of these films, followed by a discussion with director Michael Sheridan, who heads Community Supported Filmand is responsible for putting together this important collection.
