STUDIO DETAILS:

  • Studio "J" is a shared basement level studio divided into three semi-private artist spaces
  • This available space is 320 SF
  • Rent is $414/month

  • Studio includes:
  • Several sinks and private bathrooms
  • Storage lockers and large sturdy work tables available
  • Ground level access
  • Limited natural light
  • Basic electric and heat included
  • Phone, air conditioning, other extras provided by tenants
  • Artist must have insurance(ACA does offer a group insurance rate for studio artists, approximately $15/month)
  • Annual leases
  • NOTE: Minimum of solvents and toxic materials, as this is a shared space


  • Emerging and seasoned artists are encouraged to apply

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Applicants should submit an application and supporting materials, no later than October 31, 2011. All completed applications will be reviewed by an ACA committee. In general, the committee considers the following criteria equally:

  • Diversity of Work (enhances the breadth of work performed by other ACA studio artists)
  • Quality of Work (degree of accomplishment)
  • Activity in the art world (exhibits, membership in professional arts groups, participation in relevant artistic activities and forums)
  • Community interaction (in Arlington, region & the Arlington Center for the Arts group)
  • Seriousness and commitment to art and the ACA
  • Sound credit references

EXPECTATIONS OF TENANTS:

  • Support the mission of ACA
  • Be considerate of other tenants
  • Open their studio for ACA sponsored events at least once per year (Arlington Open Studios, 3rd weekend of October each year).
  • Be involved in enhancing the arts center community through select volunteer contributions
  • use the studio actively, not simply for storage
  • pay rent on time
  • adhere to the rules of the lease
