Dreaming Oana Lauric Tufts Street Community GalleryDeadline: OngoingThe Tufts Street Community Gallery is an informal exhibition space in the 3rd floor lounge of the Arlington Center for the Arts. One-person or group shows are considered. The focus of this exhibition space is to provide additional opportunities for artists, particularly emerging artists, to share their work with the public and gain experience in exhibiting their work. SpaceThere is approximately 100 feet of available wall space appropriate for hanging 2D work. Exhibits run for approximately 6 weeks, scheduled in advance. A visit to the space is highly recommended. Viewing hours are generally Monday-Friday, 9-5 pm. InstallationThe artist is responsible for hanging and dismantling the show, including creating labels and supplying a gallery book and exhibition material. Work must be suitably framed and hung from existing picture moldings using fishing line or other methods (no hooks or holes, please). ReceptionReceptions are optional, and are organized by the artist (including all food/refreshments, paper goods, making signs for the opening, etc). If a reception is scheduled, it must be scheduled with the office several months in advance, and ideally will be held on evenings when the building is open. Receptions may be held Monday-Friday during the day or early evening. Note: There is no maintenance staff, so exhibiting artists must dispose of all food and straighten up after the reception is over, otherwise incur a $25 custodial fee. SalesSale of artwork is encouraged but not required. Inquiries for artwork and all sales for the Tufts St. Community Gallery must go directly through the artist. The artist must arrange all pick-up and delivery of works sold. No storage is available in the office. PublicityThe Arlington Center for the Arts will include notices about the exhibit in select press releases, publications, and on the web site where appropriate and with sufficient notice (1-2 months before show opens). Artists are encouraged to pursue additional publicity on their own (such as printing and mailing exhibition announcements, sending additional press releases, etc.). InsuranceAs this is a community space where no fees are charged, the Arlington Center for the Arts is not able provide insurance for work installed in the Tufts St. Community Gallery.
