for teens entering grades 6-10

Program highlights:

  • Explore a medium for a full week, with a teacher who will spark your enthusiasm and creativity
  • Choose from animation, ceramics, painting, fashion design, and more
  • Teen-friendly afternoon schedule

Session 1
6/22 - 6/26

Tuition:
$250m / $270 nm
Painting & Drawing Drawing from a clothed model, we'll explore the human figure using charcoal, pencil and paint. Learn about proportion and composition in short and long poses. Students will learn to shade, create volume and capture a likeness in portrait studies.

Session 2
6/29 - 7/2
4 day week
no class on July 3rd


Tuition:
$1805m / $200nm
Silk Screen Printing Design posters, print on paper, cloth and wood. Bring a t-shirt or other fabric and print your own design on it. Learn how to use this safe and non-toxic printing technique

Session 3
7/6 - 7/10

Tuition:
$230m / $250 nm
Painting & Drawing A second week of painting and drawing - use the class to hone your skills or start fresh, and learn the basics from a professional artist and teacher. Drawing from a clothed model, we'll explore the human figure using charcoal, pencil and paint. Learn about proportion and composition in short and long poses. Students will learn to shade, create volume and capture a likeness in portrait studies.

Session 4
7/13 - 7/17

Tuition:
$250m, / $270nm
includes clay, glazes and firing fee
Ceramics: Wheel Throwing and Hand Building Learn how to throw bowls, mugs and plates on the pottery wheel and build anything you can imagine with clay slabs and coils. We'll start with the basics and create pieces to glaze and fire. Students will pick up their fired pieces the following week.

Session 5
7/20 - 7/24

Tuition:
$250m / $270nm
Ceramics: Wheel Throwing and Hand Building Students continuing in ceramics will build upon what they learned last week to create more advanced projects. New students - come join the fun! Learn how to throw bowls, mugs and plates on the pottery wheel and build anything you can imagine with clay slabs and coils. We'll start with the basics and create pieces to glaze and fire. 7/27 - 7/31

Digital Photography: Basics and Beyond This is an introdution to many fun and creative aspects of digital photography. We'll learn how to create, document and explore with photography. Topics will include; composition, portraiture, use of light, and getting the most out of your camera. Students should bring their own digital camera to class. It need not be an expensive camera.

Session 7
8/3 - 8/7

Fashion Design and Redesign We'll take a trip to a local thrift store and buy some clothing that needs an updated, stylish look. This will be the start for your own creation! No sewing skills necessary for this fun week of cutting, ripping, painting, gluing and bleaching your finds into high fashio piecs. Students should bring $20 for their bus fare and purchases.>

Summer Week 8
8/10 - 8/14

Tuition:
$230m / $250nm
Sculpture Challenge Students will be guided through the planning and building of a unique, large, sculpture project using a variety of recycled materials. Bring your imagination and plan on a fun and challenging week culminating in a sculpture project that will be on public display.

Session 9
8/17 - 8/21

$230m / $250nm
Fashion Design and Redesign Returning students can continue to create new and unique fashion projects. New students - come join the fun. Scholarship Assistance:
Limited Scholarships are available, based on financial need. Complete scholarship information and application procedure is available on the camp forms page. Scholarship assistance is supported in part by Watertown Savings Bank, Winchester Savings Bank, and by individual contributions. Please consider donating to ACA's scholarship fund!

NEW REFUND POLICY:
A $50 fee applies to all cancellations
*four weeks or more before camp week begins: full refund less cancellation fee
*two weeks or more before camp week begins: 50% refund less cancellation fee
*less than two weeks before camp begins: no refund
If space allows, you may be able to transfer to another camp week.

Media Release:
Occasionally, ACA takes photographs for use in our catalogs and promotional materials. If you do not wish to have photographs of your children used by ACA, please notify the office before the start of the session.

Sold Out or Underenrolled Classes:
If a class is full at the time of your registration, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. ACA reserves the right to cancel classes, change times or locations, and substitute instructors. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified by telephone and will receive a full refund.
