for teens entering grades 6-10

Program highlights:

  • Explore a medium for a full week, with a teacher who will spark your enthusiasm and creativity
  • Choose from animation, ceramics, painting, fashion design, and more
  • Teen-friendly afternoon schedule

Session 1
June 23-27

Tuition:
$245m / $265 nm
Drawing & Painting: The Figure and Portrait Drawing from a clothed model, we'll explore the human figure using charcoal, pencil and paint. Learn about proportion and composition in short and long poses. Students will learn to shade, create volume and capture a likeness in portrait studies. Price includes model fee.

Digital Photography This studio class will introduce students to the many fun and creative aspects of digital photography. We will learn how to create, document, and explore with photography. Topics will include composition, portraiture, use of light, and getting the most out of your camera. Students should bring their own digital camera to class. Please note: Because of the July 4th holiday, this class will run slightly longer, from 1:00-4:45.

Fashion Week I Take a trip to the thrift store and buy some vintage clothes to use as a start for your own creative outfit. No sewing skills necessary for this fun week as we cut, rip, paint, glue and tie together amazing fashion creations! Fashion show on Friday for friends and parents. With Talula Christian. Screen Printing and More Design posters, print on paper, cloth and wood. Bring in a t-shirt or other fabric to print on as well. Discover how to use this safe and nontoxic printing technique.

Rube Goldberg Chain Reaction Contraption Want to build a special chain reaction thingamajig? Want to try something that tests your creative abilities in planning, design, and art? Working with simple materials and learning about levers, counterweights, inclined planes, balance, momentum, inertia and many other dynamic principles, we'll push the outer limits of our imaginations. Sculptor Bill Turville will show you how the chain reaction gets the ball rolling up, down and all around your contraption and maybe you can enter it in the MIT F.A.T. annual event in November! Scholarship Assistance:
Limited Scholarships are available, based on financial need. Complete scholarship information and application procedure is available on the camp forms page. Scholarship assistance is supported in part by Watertown Savings Bank, Winchester Savings Bank, and by individual contributions. Please consider donating to ACA's scholarship fund!

Refund Policy:
A $25 processing fee applies to all cancellations.
Cancellation 10 days or more before the start of a session, full refund minus $25. Cancellation less than 10 days before the start of a session, 50% refund minus $25 fee. You may choose to receive a full credit to apply to any other ACA program.No refunds after classes begin.

Media Release:
Occasionally, ACA takes photographs for use in our catalogs and promotional materials. If you do not wish to have photographs of your children used by ACA, please notify the office before the start of the session.

Sold Out or Underenrolled Classes:
If a class is full at the time of your registration, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. ACA reserves the right to cancel classes, change times or locations, and substitute instructors. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified by telephone and will receive a full refund.
