for teens entering grades 6-10

Program highlights:

  • Explore a medium for a full week, with a teacher who will spark your enthusiasm and creativity
  • Choose from animation, ceramics, painting, fashion design, and more
  • Teen-friendly afternoon schedule
  • Sign up for one or two weeks, or come for the whole summer!

Session 1
June 25-29
Intuitive Acrylic Painting Come practice an intuitive approach to painting while experimenting with techniques such as pouring, layering, glazing, staining, collage and mixed media. Emphasis will be placed on fun and discovery rather than 'finished' artwork. Materials included.

Session 2
July 2-6
4 day week
no camp on July 4th

$175 m, $195 nm
Ceramics Clay is the way for kids who want to learn to hand build or throw pots on a wheel. Start with the basics and work your way into making several projects that will be glazed and fired. Materials included.

July 9-13

July 16-20
Recycled Books Come learn how to creatively recycle old books and transform them into meaningful visual journals! These journals can be used as photo albums, gifts, personal diaries, scrapbooks, family cookbooks or just a fun space to explore and have fun. They are inexpensive, unique and environmentally-conscious. You will be working with fabric, collage, oil pastel, paint and drawing materials. Materials included.

July 23-27
ACA Fashion Week Let's take a trip to thrift strores and buy some vintage clothing to use as the start of our own creative outfits! No sewing skills necessary for this fun, inventive fashion week as we cut, rip, paint, and otherwise embellish. Fashion show on Friday for friends and family. Material fee of 15.00 payable to the instructor.

Session 6
July 30-August 3
Tunnel and Dimensional Art Create your own three-dimensional windows into another world with simple layers of paper. Tunnel art is constructed out of stacked layers of cut paper that when looked into appear to be three-dimensional scenes, much like scenery on a stage. Use a variety of mediums and materials to explore perspective and narration and develop your own creation with depth. Materials included.

Session 7
August 6-10
Animation Explore and learn the basics through drawn animation, flip books and stop motion to create your own animation. Work on individual and group projects. Class projects can be posted to You Tube. Materials included.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION and POLICIES

Scholarship Assistance:
Limited Scholarships are available, based on financial need. Complete scholarship information and application procedure is available here. Scholarship assistance is supported in part by Watertown Savings Bank, Winchester Savings Bank, and by individual contributions. Please consider donating to ACA's scholarship fund!

Refund Policy:
A $25 processing fee applies to all cancellations.
Cancellation 10 days or more before the start of a session, full refund minus $25. Cancellation less than 10 days before the start of a session, 50% refund minus $25 fee. You may choose to receive a full credit to apply to any other ACA program.No refunds after classes begin.

Media Release:
Occasionally, ACA takes photographs for use in our catalogs and promotional materials. If you do not wish to have photographs of your children used by ACA, please notify the office before the start of the session.

Sold Out or Underenrolled Classes:
If a class is full at the time of your registration, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list. ACA reserves the right to cancel classes, change times or locations, and substitute instructors. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified by telephone and will receive a full refund.
