I turned this maple bowl on the lathe in my shop. The center is undercut to create interesting shadows in the interior. The rim is painted with acrylic paints in thin, flowing lines. The piece is finished with three coats of varnish to protect the paints as well as the surface of the wood. The bowl can be used for anything dry, such as candy.
