I love working with textiles. Sewing is a meditative practice for me. The items I sew are designed to cut down on waste in our environment. Upcycling is one method, as is creating items that enable people to stop purchasing disposable products. Indigo dye is fascinating! Every item dyed is a surprise. From the moment the fabric comes out of the vat, there is an evolution: the color goes from green to blue as the dye oxidizes. It's like watching a Polaroid picture develop. Then there is the unfolding, when the beautiful, painterly effects of the indigo reveal themselves.
