Fiber
My work as a textile artist celebrates the beauty and healing power of nature through innovative fiber art techniques. In my Botanica and Botanica 2 series, I explore the intersection of traditional quilting and contemporary methods to create vibrant, textured depictions of the natural world.
In Botanica 2, I begin with cyanotypes—sun prints made by exposing fabric treated with light-sensitive chemicals to sunlight. These prints serve as the foundation for my quilted fiber art. I enhance the cyanotypes with layers of hand and machine quilting, adding texture and dimension. Some pieces remain true to the original cyanotype, while others are digitally manipulated, transforming them into new forms before printing onto fabric and quilting.
These works represent my ongoing exploration of nature’s beauty and resilience, using the soft medium of fabric to create art that is both visually striking and deeply meditative, inviting viewers to connect with the tranquility and reflection that nature inspires in us all.
