I'm Sophie Lucas, i'm a french artist living in Arlington Massachusetts. I studied Design in Raymond Loewy School in La Souterraine city and History of Art in Clermont-Ferrand University. I was born 1988 in France. I started to paint at 15 years old, and since 21 years i have never stopped to paint. I am really happy to present my work in your competition. As a passionate artist, i have always been fascinated by the power of art to transcend universal emotions.

Miracle of Life

The idea of this serie is to represent different raw emotions and their growth energies. I took my inspiration from the nature and especially from the plants who grow-up in the light direction and sometimes in unexpected direction. Like the humans emotions, who are appearing from nowhere, the identities who are in the painting are like the skeleton of an emotion who is growing up and is struggling in a challenging world. But nothing can stop its growth. I painted several paintings entitled Miracle of Life (environ 20). .

The Quest of Love

My second concept work is titled The Quest of Love. With these pieces, I aim to offer the viewer a journey to observe and reflect on the fragility of humanity and nature in the face of the future. I wanted to associate the representation of human vulnerability with that of the marine ecosystem. The ocean, which connects all lands together, is the symbol of the connection between all human beings and cultures from around the world.
