Zachary Shaw is a ceramic artist from Massachusetts. He’s been working in various studios in the Boston area since 2001. Since 2004 he’s been a studio artist at Mudflat studio in Somerville. Starting out on the wheel Zachary transitioned to hand building and leveraged different “manufacturing” techniques to play with the contrast of the machined and hand made. He spent many years using stencils as a way to explore typography and printing techniques and now is primarily focused on leveraging the extruder as his way to manufacture repeatable pieces and bring woodworking techniques into his practice.
