Arlington Center for the Arts (ACA) is proud to announce the selection of Leslie Donahue as the recipient of its 2025 Anne Briggs Artist Award for their work as an artist and arts educator. Leslie is a multimedia artist, specializing in oil and acrylic painting. Their work ranges from figurative, to landscape, to still life, to abstraction and focuses on atmospheric images that depict the tension between what is revealed and what is hidden. Leslie uses their skills in printmaking, drawing, and collage to explore these themes.

Leslie maintains a studio practice in Greater-Boston, and their work has been exhibited throughout the region at Cambridge Art Association, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, Porter Mill Gallery, and the Crane Estate. Leslie is the recipient of several grants and awards for their work, and in 2023 they received a two-month Mexico City Fellowship from Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

At ACA, Leslie has taught drawing and painting classes for teen and adult students since 2022. They have also worked as an instructor in ACA's Vacation Arts Camp Program. To see samples of Leslie's work, visit their website.

Each year, in the spring, ACA presents the Anne Briggs Artist Award to a deserving individual who has done distinguished work and made important contributions to the local community through ACA. The award comes with a $500 stipend to help address the challenges artists face in realizing their own personal artistic goals, such as purchasing materials, paying fees to participate in exhibits, or other professional development activities that advance their creative work.

This award is made possible through the generosity of the Briggs/Bell family. It honors the memory of Anne Briggs, a longtime member of ACA and prize-winning artist who worked in watercolor, pen & ink, and mixed media and whose pieces were exhibited in galleries across the state.

ACA is proud to acknowledge Leslie Donahue and their many contributions that advance our mission of inspiring joy, nurturing growth, and building community through the arts. Our thanks and congratulations go out to them!
